Hotels On Vacation
How to Compare Hotels on Your Vacation
When you have spent a long day traveling, then all you want when you reach your destination is a holiday hotel with a nice clean room, and a comfortable bed, and preferably at a reasonable price. Here are a few hints and tips to help you to make the most of your money when you are staying in hotels within your various vacation resorts.
Sometimes it can actually prove to be cheaper to stay in what is perceived to be an 'expensive' hotel, than to stay at the local 'discount' hotel. You need to be sure that when you are comparing hotel room rates, you look at the complete package, as you can often find that the more expensive hotel has some services which are included within their tarrif, whereas the lower cost hotels may not include these services. If there are services you will use and need to make your vacation more enjoyable you must esure that these costs are added to the cost of the discount hotel, and this will effectively decrease the amount you have to spend on other areas of your vacation. As an example, are there any free meals included in the rates? You may well find that a continental breakfast or a buffet is offered, is it the same in all the hotels you are comparing? Also you can often take advantage of special deals for children or seniors which will lessen the costs of tehmore expensive hotel. The more expensive hotels also tend to have more facilities on offer, and they are likely to have a pool, fitness suite, a spa or tennis courts. Some of these could provide cheap or free entertainment if you get a bad weather day. Where is the hotel located? If it is too far out of the main town you will have to cost in the price of a rented car so that you can get around. Some of the more expensive hotels lay on a shuttle service to and from the airport and local attractions like amusement parks - this will obviously save you money on gas and also on parking fees.
To save money purely on the room rates it is nearly always best to make your reservation as soon as possible. There are often a limited amount of the cheapest rates, and these are only available to the first few people who reserve on room for a particular date. Also try and be flexible about your travel dates, as you will find the lowest prices for a room will be during the hotel's off-season, and at other times when the hotel would normally be quiet.
Business hotels will normally offer a discount over a weekend when they don't expect to be booked up. Equally the actual resort hotels will normally do an offer during the week days. If you are looking for two separate rooms to book, how about enquiring about a suite instead? If you decide to go for a suite option, do check how many bathrooms are available, so you will not be cramped and uncomfortable.
When comparing the rates of hotels in a specific area, try and use the internet, as this is a quick and easy way to find out the information you need. The internet will also probably give you an overview of the hotel and the surrounding area, the facilities in the hotel, and the star rating (from 1* to 5*), all of these things can help you to come to a decision as to which hotel is best suited to your requirements.
