Holiday Packing Tips
Well you are getting ready for the long awaited vacation, and not quite sure what you will need to take? Have a look at our Holiday Packing Tips.
About two weeks before you go off on your Vacation, start to make a list. On this jot down everything you think of during the day, and any ideas as they come to you. This list can be added to and edited as you go through the two week period. Without this list, something may well come to mind and be promptly forgotten again by the time you get home. Here's a few ideas of things you may decide you need when Holiday Packing
1. A corkscrew is helpful. Most countries you are likely to visit will probably produce their own wine and you may take a bottle to your room - no corkscrew to open it can be very frustrating. A corkscrew will be helpful for a drink before dinner.
2. Take some bottled water with you. You may need this on the flight, and also if the tap water is not drinking water you will need a small amount of water until you can visit local shop to buy some. Remember to pack in a plastic bottle, as glass is heavy and can break too easily. You may also want some spray water for your face, as this is very soothing and refreshing, as well as being the only source of humidity for the entire flight.
3. A pocket calculator is helpful. You can more easily work out exchange rates in a foreign currency, and hopefully this will help you to avoid getting ripped off.
4. Take a few washclotes. Most overseas hotels do not provide these.
5. Earplugs are also a good item to pack. If there is a lot of noise in your hotel one night, or a screaming child on your flight you can pop the earplugs in and get some peace!
6. Pack some tissues, as many hotels only provide a small packet of tissues, if indeed they supply any at all. Keep some travel tissues in your hand luggage or day bag as well, as this is handy as toilet paper.
7. Include a small stash of your favorite dried fruit or nuts in case you get hungry on a site seeing tour, or at night when the restaurants are closed.
8. Bring a clothespin or large safety pin to close drapes that might not meet in the middle or even for clamping closed a bag of snacks you have in your room.
9. A Small pair of scissors, some clothes pegs and a small sewing kit are all items that could be useful to take with you.
Always make photo copies of all of your important travel documents. This would include your passport (picture page), tickets, ATM card, credit card, driver's license, traveler's checks, etc. If you are unlucky, and they are lost or get stolen, you will know exactly what you're missing and have the relevant numbers handy. Keep a note of any telephone numbers to cancel credit cards etc if you lose them or they are stolen. Obviously, keep these copies totally separate from the items you've copied! Finally, take along some individually wrapped candies - not chocolate if you're going someplace warm. Offer these to hotel staff, taxi drivers and others you’d like to be nice to. It's a great way to break the ice and meet new people.
